As for one who turns away from the remembrance of the Gracious God, We appoint for him a devil, who will become his intimate companion. 36 and they bar them from the Way, though they themselves think that they are guided. 37 But when he comes to Us, he will say (to his satan): “Would that there had been between me and you the distance as between the East and the West. How evil a companion you were!” 38 And never will it benefit you that Day, when you have wronged, that you are [all] sharing in the punishment. 39 CANST THOU, perchance, [O Muhammad,] make the deaf hear, or show the right way to the blind or to such as are obviously lost in error? 40 We shall revenge them either after your death 41 Or We shall show thee that (accomplished) which We have promised them: for verily We shall prevail over them. 42 So hold fast to all that has been revealed to thee: for, behold, thou art on a straight way; 43 And indeed, it is a remembrance for you and your people, and you [all] are going to be questioned. 44 Ask all Our Messengers whom We sent before you whether We had appointed any deities beside the Merciful One to be worshipped. 45
