The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 And it is no joke. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
