The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER Mount Sinai! 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). 10 Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 And they [who are thus blest] will turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
