The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water gushing, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgins. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those on the right. 38
