Nay, and by the moon, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 and the morn when it dawns! 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 A warning unto humankind 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 From the guilty. 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 As they were frightened asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56
