The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 except boiling water and pus 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
