And the chiefs of his people who disbelieved and called the meeting of the hereafter a lie, and whom We had given plenty to enjoy in this world's life, said: This is nothing but a mortal like yourselves, eating of what you eat from and drinking of what you drink. 33 “If you were to obey a human like yourselves, then surely you are losers!” 34 Does he promise you that, after you have died and become [mere] dust and bones, you shall be brought forth [to a new life]? 35 ۞ “How remote, (really) how remote is the promise you are given!” 36 There is nothing but our present life; we die, and we live, and we shall not be raised up. 37 He is nothing but a man who attributes his own lying inventions to God, and we are not going to believe him!" 38 The messenger said, "My Lord, help me, for they have rejected me." 39 Allah said: after a little while they will become regretful. 40 And the Cry seized them justly, and We made them as scum; so away with the people of the evildoers! 41 Then, after them, We brought forth other generations. 42 No nation can go before its term ends nor stay back. 43 Thereafter We sent Our apostles, successively. So oft as there came unto a community their apostle, they belied him, so We made them follow one another, and We made them bywords; so away with a people who believe not! 44 Thereafter We sent Musa and his brother Harun with Our signs and an authority manifest. 45 to the Pharaoh and his nobles. But they behaved proudly and thought themselves superior people. 46 And so they said: "Shall we believe [them] two mortals like ourselves - although their people are our slaves?" 47 So they denied them both [Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)] and became of those who were destroyed. 48 We gave Moses the Book so that they might be guided. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and sheltered them within a high ground having level [areas] and flowing water. 50
