The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts. 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 Thereupon We opened the gates of the sky for water to pour down, 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 which floated on the water before Our very eyes. The flood was a recompense for the deeds of the disbelievers. 14 And indeed, We have caused such [floating vessels] to remain forever a sign [of Our grace unto man]: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 17 The people of `Ad rejected Our guidance. How terrible was My torment and the result (of their disregard) of My warning. 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 How was then My punishment and My commination! 21 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran: is there anyone who would receive admonition? 22
