The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 and those that draw out violently, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment). 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
