The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
