Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 therein a running fountain, 12 and raised couches, 13 and goblets set forth 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
