And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
