The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers. 123 Their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear God? 124 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I do not ask for any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 127 What, do you build on every prominence a sign, sporting, 128 and do you take to you castles, haply to dwell forever? 129 And when ye seize, ye seize like unto tyrants. 130 Have fear of God and obey me. 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 “He aided you with cattle and sons.” 133 and gardens, and springs -- 134 I am afraid that you will suffer the torment of the Day of Judgment." 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 This is but a custom of the ancients. 137 and we are not going to be chastised [for adhering to it]!" 138 Then they accused him of lies; so We annihilated them. Verily there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 140
