Thorns (Al-Masad)

5 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Key (Al-Faatehah) before The Rolling (Al-Takweer)

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful

Perish the two hands of Abu Lahab, and perish he! 1 His wealth did not avail him, nor his acquisitions. 2 He will [enter to] burn in a Fire of [blazing] flame 3 and his wife, the carrier of the firewood, 4 Will have a strap of fibre rope around her neck. 5

God the Almighty always says the truth.
