And (remember) when ye slew a man and disagreed concerning it and Allah brought forth that which ye were hiding. 72 So We said: Strike the (dead body) with part of the (Sacrificed cow), thus Allah brings the dead to life, and He shows you His signs so that you may understand. 73 Then your hearts hardened after that, so that they were like rocks, rather worse in hardness; and surely there are some rocks from which streams burst forth, and surely there are some of them which split asunder so water issues out of them, and surely there are some of them which fall down for fear of Allah, and Allah is not at all heedless of what you do. 74 ۞ Covet ye then that they would believe for you whereas surely a party of them hath been hearing the Word of Allah and then reverting it after they have understood it while they know. 75 And when they fall in with those who believe, they say: We believe. But when they go apart one with another they say: Prate ye to them of that which Allah hath disclosed to you that they may contend with you before your Lord concerning it? Have ye then no sense? 76 Do they really not know that Allah is fully aware of what they hide and what they disclose? 77 And there are among them illiterates who know not the Book but only lies, and they do but conjecture. 78 So woe to those who write the "scripture" with their own hands, then say, "This is from Allah," in order to exchange it for a small price. Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn. 79 And they say: "The Fire shall not touch us but for a few numbered days:" Say: "Have ye taken a promise from Allah, for He never breaks His promise? or is it that ye say of Allah what ye do not know?" 80 Indeed, he who earns evil and becomes engrossed in his sin, they are the people of the Fire; in it they shall remain for ever. 81 And those who believe and do righteous works, those shall be the fellows of the Garden, as abiders therein. 82
