A token unto them is the dead earth. We revive it, and We bring forth from it grain so that they eat thereof; 33 and We made therein gardens of palms and vines, and therein We caused fountains to gush forth, 34 that they might eat of its fruits and their hands' labour. What, will they not be thankful? 35 All glory belongs to the One Who has created pairs out of what grow from the earth, out of their soul and out of that which they do not know. 36 And a Sign for them is the Night: We withdraw therefrom the Day, and behold they are plunged in darkness; 37 The sun, too, follows its determined course laid down for it by the Almighty, the All Knowing. 38 And (as for) the moon, We have ordained for it stages till it becomes again as an old dry palm branch. 39 It is not permitted to the sun that it should overtake the moon, nor can the night outstrip the day: each in an orbit, they float. 40 Another sign for them is that We carried their offspring in the laden Ark. 41 We have created for them the like of it in which they ride. 42 If it were Our will, We could drown them: then there would be no helper [to hear their cry], nor could they be saved. 43 It is only by Our mercy that they are granted provision for a time. 44 And when it is said unto them: fear that which is before you and that which is behind you, that haply ye may find mercy, they withdraw. 45 Not a Sign comes to them from among the Signs of their Lord, but they turn away therefrom. 46 And when it is said to them: "Spend of that with which Allah has provided you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe: "Shall we feed those whom, if Allah willed, He (Himself) would have fed? You are only in a plain error." 47 And they say: When will this promise be fulfilled, if ye are truthful? 48 They are only waiting for a single blast that will seize them, but they will go on contending. 49 So they shall not be able to make a bequest, nor shall they return to their families. 50
