Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Sure Reality! 1 How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! 2 And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the outburst. 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 and rebelled against their Lord's Messenger. So He took them with a stern taking. 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 And the heaven shall be rent in sunder, it on that Day shall be frail. 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 In a lofty garden, 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 And not known my account! 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, 28 and my authority has been destroyed' 29 It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” 30 Roast him in Hell, 31 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: 32 Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
