He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and who has fear of God, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 May man be slain how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
