Al-Inshiqaaq
The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
25 verses, revealed in Mecca after Shattering (Al-Infitaar) before The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
True are the words of God the Almighty.
