So when the envoys came to the household of Lot, 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 "And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. 64 So set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and follow after the backs of them, and let not any one of you turn round; and depart unto the place you are commanded.' 65 And We decreed for him that commandment, that the last remnant of those should be cut off in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 "And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God." 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 Lot exclaimed in exasperation: "If you are bent on doing something, then here are my daughters." 71 By your life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement. 72 So the shriek seized them at sunrise. 73 And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 Verily in that is a sign for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
