The Ad gave the lie to the Messengers. 123 Their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear God? 124 I am for you an honest Messenger. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 For this I ask of you no wage, for my wage falls only on the Lord of the Worlds. 127 "Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves? 128 “And prefer strong palaces, that perhaps you may live for ever?” 129 And when you strike, you strike as tyrants. 130 So be fearful of God and follow me. 131 And fear Him Who hath aided you with that which ye know. 132 Gave you increase of cattle and sons, 133 gardens and fountains. 134 for, verily, I fear lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 135 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; 136 your preaching is nothing but ancient legends and we shall not face any torment". 137 "And we are not the ones to receive Pains and Penalties!" 138 So they rejected him, and We destroyed them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 139 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 140
