The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Cloaked one, 1 Arise, and warn. 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 and purify your robes, 4 And all defilement shun! 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then he beheld, 21 frowned and scowled; 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
