He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 his consort, his sons, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
