The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 it is not a jest. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
