Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 in a garden sublime, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 therein uplifted couches 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and arranged cushions 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
