He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And he fears, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 lofty and pure, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 And olives and palms 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
