The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do they not think they will be raised (to life) again 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When Our revelations are conveyed to him, he says, "Fables of the ancients!" 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 Then it will be said: 'this is that which ye were wont to belie.' 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 a written record, 20 To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). 21 The virtuous will surely be in bliss, 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
