Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those that winnow with a winnowing 1 which carry clouds laden with water, 2 and those that speed along with gentle ease, 3 And those (angels) who distribute (provisions, rain, and other blessings) by (Allah's) Command; 4 surely that you are promised is true, 5 And verily, the Recompense is sure to happen. 6 I swear by the heaven full of ways. 7 surely you speak at variance, 8 Only those who are destined to revert, are reverted from it. 9 Woe to the liars 10 Who are lost in deception. 11 They ask: "When is the Day of Judgement?" -- 12 [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, 13 'Taste your trial. This is what you have sought to hasten' 14 The pious ones will live amidst gardens and springs, 15 enjoying all that their Sustainer will have granted them [because,] verily, they were doers of good in the past: 16 They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allah) and praying, with fear and hope]. 17 And in the dawns they prayed for forgiveness. 18 And the beggar and the destitute had a share in their wealth. 19 And in the earth are signs for those who are certain. 20 and also in your own selves. Do you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your providence and that which ye are promised; 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
