The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 narratives that are full of consummate wisdom. But warnings do not avail them. 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter - 6 with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about 7 Racing ahead toward the Caller. The disbelievers will say, "This is a difficult Day." 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 So he cried unto his Lord, saying: I am vanquished, so give help. 10 And so We caused the gates of heaven to open with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 She floats under our eyes (and care): a recompense to one who had been rejected (with scorn)! 14 We made (the story of Noah) as evidence of the Truth. However, is there anyone who would take heed? 15 How terrible then was My punishment and My warning. 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 17 The tribe of A'ad denied - so how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 22
