The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And shade extended 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And couches raised up. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And have made them virgins. 36 full of love, well-matched 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
