The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 No! They are going to know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
