The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And the close of night, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
