The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
