By the moon, 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 In Gardens they will question 40 From the guilty. 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They will answer: “We were not among those who observed Prayer, 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56
