The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
