۞ Surely We had bestowed wisdom upon Abraham even earlier, and We knew him well. 51 When he said unto his father and his folk: What are these images unto which ye pay devotion? 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said: Certainly you have been, (both) you and your fathers, in manifest error. 54 They said, "Have you come to us with truth, or are you of those who jest?" 55 He said: Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them; and I am of those who testify unto that. 56 And, by Allah, I shall circumvent your idols after ye have gone away and turned your backs. 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) except the biggest of them, that they might turn to it. 58 "Who has done this to our deities? He must be a wrongdoer." 59 They said: We heard a youth called Ibrahim speak of them. 60 The others said: "Bring him, then, before the eyes of the people that they may see (what will be done to him)." 61 They said, "Abraham, was it you who did this to our deities?" 62 He said, "Rather, this - the largest of them - did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak." 63 And so they turned upon one another, saying, "Behold, it is you who are doing wrong." 64 then they hung their heads, and said, "O Abraham! You know they cannot speak." 65 He said, "Do you, instead of God, worship things that can neither harm nor benefit you?" 66 "Fie upon you, and upon that which you worship besides Allah! Have you then no sense?" 67 They said, “Burn him and help your Gods, if you want to.” 68 We said: O fire! be a comfort and peace to Ibrahim; 69 And they desired a war on him, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 And We delivered him as well as Lut (removing them) to the land which We had blessed for all people. 71 We granted him Isaac and Jacob as a gift and helped both of them to become righteous people. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding by Our command; and We revealed unto them the doing of good deeds and the establishment of prayer, and the giving of poor-rate; and of Us they were the worshippers. 73 And Lot -- to him We gave judgment and knowledge; and we delivered him from the city that had been doing deeds of corruption; they were an evil people, truly ungodly; 74 and We admitted him into Our mercy; he was of the righteous. 75
