Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
59 verses, revealed in Mecca after Vanity (Al-Zukhruf) before Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha'. Mim. 1 The perspicuous Book is witness 2 We revealed it on a Blessed Night, for We were intent on warning; 3 On that night is made distinct every precise matter - 4 The command that We have been sending 5 in pursuance of thy Sustainer's grace [unto man]. Verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing, 6 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all between them, if ye (but) have an assured faith. 7 There is no Allah save Him. He quickeneth and giveth death; your Lord and Lord of your forefathers. 8 Aye! they're in doubt sporting. 9 So wait thou the day whereon the heaven will bring forth a manifest smoke: 10 Which will envelop the people; this is a painful punishment. 11 Our Lord! remove from us the torment, verily we shall become believers. 12 But how will they take heed? Such are they that a Messenger came to them clearly expounding the Truth, 13 whereupon they turned their backs on him and said, "Taught [by others] is he, a madman"? 14 Verily We shall remove the torment for a while; but verily ye shall revert. 15 on the Day when We shall seize [all sinners] with a most mighty onslaught, We shall, verily, inflict Our retribution [on you as well]! 16 ۞ And before them We indeed tried the people of Firaun, and an Honourable Noble Messenger came to them. 17 saying, 'Deliver to me God's servants; I am for you a faithful Messenger, 18 "And be not arrogant as against Allah: for I come to you with authority manifest. 19 "For me, I have sought safety with my Lord and your Lord, against your injuring me. 20 "But if you believe me not, then keep away from me and leave me alone." 21 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “These are a guilty nation!” 22 We commanded him, “Journey with My bondmen in a part of the night – you will be pursued.” 23 Cross the sea by cutting a path through it. Pharaoh's army will be drowned. 24 How many gardens and fountains did they leave behind, 25 And corn-fields and noble buildings, 26 and pleasant things in which they delighted! 27 Thus it was; and We made another people inherit all that. 28 So the heaven and the earth did not weep for them, nor were they respited. 29

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
