The Thamud rejected the warnings, 23 For they said: "What! a man! a Solitary one from among ourselves! shall we follow such a one? Truly should we then be straying in mind, and mad! 24 Why - on him alone from among all of us should a [divine] reminder have been bestowed? Nay, but he is a boastful liar!" 25 [We said to him] "Tomorrow they shall know who is the boastful liar, 26 Verily We are sending the she-camel as a test for them, so watch them thou and have patience. 27 And declare thou unto them that water hath been divided between them; every drinking shall be by turns. 28 But they called their companion who took hold of her and hamstrung her. 29 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 30 Verily, We sent against them a single Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.), and they became like the dry stubble of a fold-builder. 31 And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 32 The people of Lut denied the Noble Messengers. 33 We sent a sandstorm against them which destroyed them all, except the family of Lot, whom We saved at the break of dawn, 34 as a blessing from Us: thus do We reward all who are grateful. 35 He had warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warnings. 36 And they indeed sought to shame his guest (by asking to commit sodomy with them). So We blinded their eyes, "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings." 37 And assuredly there met them early in the morning a torment settled. 38 We said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 39 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 40
