The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And spreading shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
