The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
