Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 and grudgingly spends very little for the cause of God? 34 Does he have any knowledge of the world beyond the ken of sense-perception, and therefore, clearly sees (the Truth)? 35 Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses 36 And with Abraham who kept his word: 37 Certainly no one will bear the responsibility of the sins of another, 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 And that his endeavour shall be presently observed. 40 and that he shall then be fully recompensed, 41 and that the final return is to your Lord, 42 and that it is He who makes to laugh, and that makes to weep, 43 And that He it is Who causes death and gives life- 44 And that He creates the two mates - the male and female - 45 From the small seed when it is adapted 46 and that [therefore] it is within His power to bring about a second life; 47 and that it is He who gives wealth and riches, 48 And that He only is the Lord of the star Sirius? 49 And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people), 50 And Thamud, and did not leave them, 51 and before them the people of Noah who were even more unjust and insolent; 52 And the overturned towns He hurled down 53 So that (ruins unknown) have covered them up. 54 Then which of thy Lord's bounties disputest thou? 55 This is a warner from the warners of ancient times. 56 The Day of Resurrection draws near, 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Do you then wonder at this recital (the Quran)? 59 and do you laugh, and do you not weep, 60 Will you remain proudly heedless? 61 So bow yourselves before God, and serve Him! ۩ 62
God the Almighty always says the truth.

Notes and Instructions

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
