The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 by those that swim serenely 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'” 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
