Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Travailing, worn. 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
