The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
