And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 Do not betray me 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 nor a loving friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
