But as for anyone who chooses to remain blind to the remembrance of the Most Gracious, to him We assign an [enduring] evil impulse, to become his other self: 36 Such (evil ones) really hinder them from the Path, but they think that they are being guided aright! 37 Till, when he cometh unto Us, he saith (unto his comrade): Ah, would that between me and thee there were the distance of the two horizons - an evil comrade! 38 And never will it benefit you that Day, when you have wronged, that you are [all] sharing in the punishment. 39 Can you (O Muhammad SAW) make the deaf to hear, or can you guide the blind or him who is in manifest error? 40 Even if We take you away from the world, We shall surely take vengeance on them 41 or We shall show you what We have promised them; for surely We have complete power over them. 42 Therefore hold fast to that which has been revealed to you; surely you are on the right path. 43 it is certainly a reminder to you and to your people and you will soon be called to account. 44 Yet [above all else,] ask any of Our apostles whom We sent forth before thy time whether We have ever allowed that deities other than the Most Gracious be worshipped! 45
