The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 the Quran is the final word, 13 it is no merriment. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
