For [thus it was:] when We told the angels, "Prostrate yourselves before Adam!" - they all prostrated themselves, save Ibis, who refused [to do it]; 116 Then We said, 'Adam, surely this is an enemy to thee and thy wife. So let him not expel you both from the Garden, so that thou art unprosperous. 117 In Paradise you will experience no hunger, nakedness, 118 there, (you shall) neither thirst, nor suffer from the sun' 119 So the devil incited him, saying, “O Adam, shall I show you the tree of immortality and a kingdom that does not erode?” 120 And so the two ate [of the fruit] thereof: and thereupon they became conscious of their nakedness and began to cover themselves with pieced-together leaves from the garden. And [thus] did Adam disobey his Sustainer, and thus did he fall into grievous error. 121 But afterwards his Lord chose him; He turned again towards him and guided him. 122 He said: Go down hence, both of you, one of you a foe unto the other. But when there come unto you from Me a guidance, then whoso followeth My guidance, he will not go astray nor come to grief. 123 "But whosoever turns away from My Message, verily for him is a life narrowed down, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Judgment." 124 He shall say: My Lord! why hast Thou raised me blind and I was a seeing one indeed? 125 He (Allah) will say: 'It is so, Our verses came to you and you forgot them. So this Day you are forgotten' 126 Thus We shall reward the transgressor who denies the signs of his Lord. But the suffering of the life to come is more terrible and more lasting. 127 Is it not a warning to such men (to call to mind) how many generations before them We destroyed, in whose haunts they (now) move? Verily, in this are Signs for men endued with understanding. 128
