The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 And when they see a sign, they turn away and say, “Just a customary magic!” 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 And indeed the news which had a lot of deterrence, came to them. 4 Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad, 7 Hastening toward the summoner. The infidels will say: this is a day diffrcult. 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied [the truth] before them. They belied Our messenger saying, "He is mad!" He was rebuffed, 9 so he cried out to his Lord, saying, "I am overcome, so help me!" 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warning! 16 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 it swept the people away as though they were palm-trunks uprooted: 20 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 21 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished! 22
