He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him you attend; 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and fearfully, 9 you ignore him. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olives and palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
